Strategic goal: All people, particularly young and vulnerable groups, have access to available, comprehensive and quality information, education and services for sexual and reproductive health, including family planning services based on the concept of sexual and reproductive rights.
Current activities:
- Offering free and confidential services for sexual and reproductive health through the I Want to Know youth centres, particularly for marginalised communities and people at social risk
- Extending free and confidential services to rural areas by introducing mobile gynaecological practice
- Supporting the implementation of the programme Roma Health Mediators
- Free legal assistance for achieving sexual and reproductive rights
- Support by a social worker for achieving rights in this field
- Setting a local network for dealing with family violence in the Municipality of Strumica
- Participating in the development of the National Report on Poverty in the Republic of Macedonia
- Training of social workers on issues related to tuberculosis
- Developing programme on sexuality and individuals with disability in cooperation with day-care centres across the country
Results:
- In 7 years, 20.000 clients have visited both I Want to Know youth centres
- HERA is chair organisation of the Macedonian Platform Against Poverty
- Sexuality aspects have been introduced in the programmes of gender studies and social work and special education and rehabilitation studies in cooperation with the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje
- The first shelter centre for victims of family violence has been opened in the Municipality of Strumica
- HERA has become a member of the group to develop the National Strategy on Family Violence
- HERA has become a member of the Administrative Board of the Voice Against Violence network
