Rumena Gjerdovska-Kojčeski holds a bachelor’s degree in social work and is employed with the public health facility University Clinic for Infectious Diseases and Febrile Conditions in Skopje, where she works at the HIV/AIDS Counselling Service.
She has started her non-governmental sector activism as early as when she was a student, when she joined the first trainings to become an HIV counsellor and SOS telephone line operator.
She has been working with HERA since 2007, at the post of HIV counsellor and social worker providing support to persons living with HIV. As a well-experienced counsellor of long standing, she has been a trainer on HIV confidential counselling and testing, and for the last few years she has been conducting evaluations of the counselling and testing activities of the mobile and stationary HIV service providers.
She is the co-author of several publications on HIV and sexually transmitted diseases and has participated in many research activities as a field researcher and work group expert.
