From September 12th to 14th, 2024, a workshop for the leadership group on gender equality was held at Hotel Bistra in Mavrovo. The event was organized by the association HERA – Health Education and Research Association, with support from the British Embassy in Skopje.
The workshop successfully introduced the concepts of gender, gender equality, and social inclusion, focusing on enhancing the participants’ knowledge and skills. Participants also had the opportunity to analyze specific measures and policies using techniques designed to integrate a gender perspective into evidence-based policy-making processes.
The participants’ theoretical knowledge about the basics of the gender concept, gender equality and vulnerable groups, were conveyed by Igor Jadrovski, president of The Commission for Prevention and Protection from Discrimination, together with Neda Chalovska, expert on gender issues.
During the workshop, the current state of gender equality in North Macedonia was presented, along with appropriate recommendations for improving existing policies and implementing processes for regulatory impact assessment in partnership with representatives from the Government, specifically the Ministry of Public Administration.
Participants were introduced to the fundamental pillars of the RESI methodology—Gender Equality and Social Inclusion—through lectures organized by HERA. By applying the RESI methodology and its tools, measures and policies can be made gender-responsive, promoting social inclusion at all levels, both during their creation and throughout the implementation and evaluation of the results achieved.
This event is part of the project “Together for Gender Equality: Building Support for Gender-Inclusive Policies,” which aims to strengthen support for the development of gender-inclusive policies in the country.
