We produced A Handbook for Service Providers in Counselling Centres Working with Victims of Violence, which we believe will serve the trainers when conducting training for service providers (psychologists, social workers, lawyers and other professionals involved in the process of counselling and supporting victims of violence).
The aim is to sensitize service providers and expand their knowledge and skills to offer specialized services to victims of gender-based and domestic violence in the country.
With this Handbook gender-based violence trainers are offered a five-day training model, or an effective 30 hours of training, in order to unify the training that service providers receive in accordance with European Commission standards.
It is projected that at the end of the training, the participants will have acquired enhanced knowledge, skills and techniques about:
– Gender, gender norms and stereotypes as factors that determine violence against women;
– Intervention in a crisis after committed violence, working with trauma and post-traumatic consequences for clients;
– Understanding the principle of confidentiality;
– Understanding the communication skills necessary to provide support to women who have survived violence;
– Domestic legislation and international legal standards for protection against gender-based violence;
– Recognition of discrimination, equality and types of equality, as well as protection against discrimination and its prevention;
– Available help and support services for victims of gender-based violence in our country;
– Understanding the concept of women’s empowerment and its importance for women who have survived violence.
