In front of you is the Annual Report for our work during the year of 2024.
2024 was a year of profound change, but also of strong commitment – a year when HERA continued to
live out its mission: protecting and advancing human rights, with a focus on sexual and reproductive
health, gender equality and social justice. In a context of increasing political polarisation, restrictive
policies, and economic challenges, our vision of a just society remains a beacon that guides us forward.
In 2024, we took an even firmer hold of our role as a strategic actor – a voice for communities, a bridge
between institutions and citizens, and a partner for progressive reforms. With new alliances, regional
and international partnerships, HERA has positioned itself not only as a service provider, but also as a
driver of change, especially in the areas of gender equality, youth participation and democracy.
Our Strategic Framework 2023–2028 is the compass that guides us towards sustainable systemic
solutions. Through innovative approaches to educating, advocating for, and strengthening the capacities
of communities, we invest in the resilience and leadership of vulnerable groups, especially women,
youth, and marginalised communities. We are particularly proud of young people’s involvement in
policy-making processes, regional initiatives, volunteer activism and HERAyouth which are at the heart
of our organisation.
Over the past year, through collaboration with the public sector, civil society organisations and
international partners, we have been able to support reform processes, provide access to services for
thousands of beneficiaries, and strengthen accountability mechanisms at local and national levels.
The vision for the future remains clear: HERA will continue to invest in solidarity, in collective action, and
in knowledge as a means of transformation. We believe that only by building democratic, equitable, and
inclusive processes can we create lasting social change.
To all the contributors, partners, volunteers, and communities – thank you for being a part of this
journey. Together, we are stronger and closer to a vision of a world in which every person has the power
and resources to live their lives with dignity, without fear and without discrimination.
