Before you is HERA’s 2022 Enlargement Review, with a focus on Roma reproductive and social well-being in our country.
The reduction of funds for preventive health care for socially excluded groups of citizens, the lack of a support system for victims of domestic violence despite the growing number of such cases, the increase in the unemployment rate and unequivocal systemic discrimination are the initial indicators of the obstacles that Roma people in the country face daily when trying to access to services for reproductive health and social protection.
Besides summarizing the detected gaps in service provision and policy and legal framework that impact the health and the social status of Roma women in North Macedonia, this document also provides recommendations for policy improvement that would allow for Roma people to be truly integrated into the society and to enjoy their social status just like any other citizen in the country.
