The only way to know one’s HIV status is to take an HIV test. The earlier the HIV status is known, the earlier the HIV positive person can access therapy and support services, thus preserving their immunity and being able to live a quality and long life.
The HIV status can also be discovered through self-testing, with a quick HIV test for home use. This test provides a quick and accurate result in discreet circumstances – at home or at a place and time of personal choice – without another person being involved in the testing process.
Considering that HIV self-testing is a novel way of testing for HIV, we prepared the brochure Everything you need to know about HIV self-testing. It contains information about the benefits and the method of testing with the HIV self-test kit, as well as about life with HIV, about the ways in which this virus is (not) transmitted and about other sexually transmitted infections. At the end, all health facilities and services by civil society organisations that provide free and confidential HIV counselling and testing are listed.
The brochure is available in Macedonian language here. If you would like to be tested for HIV with the rapid HIV test for home use, fill in this questionnaire.
