Message from the President and Executive Director
This year we are celebrating 10 Anniversary. 10 years ago HERA started as an HIV organization and today HIV is just part of our strategic priorities in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights. In this past decade we succeed to strengthen our capacities and competences and to become more relevant and critical association for the society. Human-rights based agenda become fundamental principle in our activities while the right of choice our leading message. Today HERA is proud that many people benefited from our services. Peer education, providing free HIV and STI testing, contraceptive services and gynaecological care are on the front line of our activities. Building partnership remained our main strategic approach while advocacy around sexual and reproductive rights, in particularly sexuality education and abortion rights, was set high on the agenda. Prevention and access to information may have improved, but many of the problems related to sexual and reproductive rights are still with us. In a time when democracy is highly valued by all stakeholders there is no excuse for not respecting sexual rights and there is no room for stigma and discrimination. Therefore will continue fighting to ensure that each individual, regardless his/her sex, gender, social status or sexual orientation has a right to make free choices about his/her body, life and sexual and reproductive health in order to enjoy the highest standards of mental, physical and social welfare. It is also a pleasure to present to you HERA Annual Report 2010 which summarize all our achievements during this year. About 20 projects have been implemented and more donors keep supported us. We are proud of this and will strive to make collaboration work to the benefit of the people we serve. This is also a momentum when we thank all our volunteers, staff, partners and donors for their contribution and confidence paid in us.
