{"id":11,"date":"2011-07-24T17:25:14","date_gmt":"2011-07-24T15:25:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hera.org.mk\/?page_id=11"},"modified":"2026-08-14T15:44:48","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T14:44:48","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hera.org.mk\/en\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HERA \u2013 Health Education and Research Association was founded in January 2000 by six volunteers, medical students resolved to do something about the poor education about HIV and AIDS and the lack of medicines and care for people living with HIV in North Macedonia. Soon HIV becomes merely one of the aspects of sexual and reproductive health and sexual rights, the promotion of which becomes our aim, which is evidenced by our full membership in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ippf.org\/\">International Planned Parenthood Federation<\/a> (IPPF) since 2009, and is reflected in our <a href=\"https:\/\/hera.org.mk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Strategiska-ramka-2018-2022_MK.pdf\">Five-Year Strategic Framework<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, HERA has been advocating for better policies as we believe in the <b>freedom of choice<\/b> and in <b>diversity<\/b>. We provide free and confidential services for sexual and reproductive health and for gender-based violence, as accessibility, availability and confidentiality stand indivisible from people\u2019s health. We educate about sexual rights because strong citizenry and sustainable democratic society remain unattainable without comprehensive information and <b>youth participation<\/b>.
