HERA – Health Education and Research Association was established back in 2000. In the very beginning, its efforts were put primarily towards HIV prevention and providing support for people living with HIV. It didn’t take long before HERA identified the need to promote the concept of both sexual and reproductive health and sexual rights, thus accepting it as a comprehensive approach.
HERA’s work is entirely guided by its mission as defined with the Strategic Framework (2018-2022) and its policies:
HERA leads a citizen action and encourages social change to ensure sexual rights for all and to enable improved sexual and reproductive health education and services, especially for the marginalized communities.
According to the Statute, HERA’s highest body is the Assembly which elects the members of the Governing Board. The latter manage the functioning of the organization and operate in accordance with the Rules of Procedure. The employees in the Executive Office implement activities and projects.
